Absent Healing and Contact Healing
Absent Healing Absent Healing is the channelling of spiritual energies with the patient not being in the immediate vicinity of the spiritualist healer. This may entail praying that Mrs . . . . . will get better from whatever illness is troubling her. However absent healing can be accomplished in several ways. As stated above simple prayer is absent healing but there are differing ‘levels’ of absent healing. One can meditate and attune with spirit and then mentally ask for healing energies to be sent to Mr . . .. . . . . . indeed certain individuals have been known to enter a state of altered consciousness and then astral travel to the side of the patient and then help to direct healing energies through to the patient, whilst others may use creative visualisation techniques to direct healing energies. Although there are several methods of absent healing they all use the same basic technique the spiritualist healer is not physically present with the patient and must utilise differing methods of directing healing energies from spirit to the patient.
Contact Healing Contact healing is a method of giving spiritualist healing where the healing medium is in physical contact with the patient, this may simply be holding the patient’s hand or standing behind a seated patient and putting one’s hands on the patient’s shoulders. Different healers will throughout their development use various methods of directing healing energies. Some spiritualist healers may appear to be touching the patient, but in actual fact their hands may be slightly away from the patient, possibly only an inch or two away. At the start of the spiritualist healing session the spiritualist healer will ‘blend’ (attune) with the patient, some will hold both the patient’s hands, whilst the preferred manner is to stand behind a seated patient and put one hand at the top of each arm. This is to enable a bond or link between patient and spiritualist healer. It is after this bond or blending that spiritualist healing energies are enabled. The Healing medium is the link between healing energies from spirit and the patient. Whilst ‘blending’ or ‘attuning’ whatever name one prefers the spiritualist healer forms a link between the patient and spirit and allows healing energies to be channelled from spirit through the spirit of the spiritualist healer to the spirit of the patient. There is strictly no clairvoyance allowed during healing services, to give messages/clairvoyance is to use spiritual energies that have been designated for healing. Any unused energy at the end of every healing service is used sending out absent healing for those on the church healing list. Whilst different spiritualist healers will develop along similar but sometimes slightly differing paths there must be a certain standard. A certain consistency, this is where the code of conduct is crucial. Some spiritualist healers claim to receive a diagnosis from spirit doctors whilst other spiritualist healers may receive impressions on where to place one’s hands. As stated above the code of conduct is there to protect both the patient and the spiritualist healer. Whilst attuning and channelling spiritual energies the spiritualist healer must always be totally aware of the exact position of his/her hands and must never place his/her hands in an inappropriate place/area.
Responsibilities of Spiritualist Healers/Trainee Healers. Spiritualist healers whether they are trainee or qualified have responsibilities. The process of giving spiritualist healing is a team effort, with almost all of the team being in spirit. It then follows that all members of the team need to work together, this puts certain responsibilities on the healer's). The healer is in actual fact a healing medium, the better healing medium he/she is then the better the transfer of healing energies from the spirit world. Spiritualist Healers/Trainee Healers have a responsibility to the patient, to the Spiritualist Church and to Spirit i.e. the team of doctors and helpers in spirit who we work with at healing services to be the best we can. The better we are at helping spirit to transfer healing energies then the greater will be the success rate. The more likely is the fact that one day Spiritualist Healing will be recognised by everyone and not just by Spiritualists and the medical profession.
The Healer/Trainee healer has a responsibility him/herself, responsible for one’s thoughts, and actions. This applies to our everyday life and not just at healing services. Also one’s dress and behaviour together with dedication regarding his/her application of healing. Being dedicated and attending all healing services, arriving early ensuring everything is safe and that healing is carried out in the best possible conditions. Also to Spirit, to our Spirit Guides and Helpers, and to the other unseen members of our healing group ‘our spirit friends’. Also to one’s patients and also to the place of healing irrespective of its location i.e. Church, Hospital, patient’s home etc. Also to others, i.e. other members of the healing group, and others, i.e. visitors to the healing service who are not patients.
Information for those who are interested in becoming a Spiritualist Healer.
The first step for the individual who wants to become a spiritualist healer is to approach the church committee of his/her church. Assuming he/she is accepted into the church healing group then the next step is to register with the SNU Healing Committee. The trainee healer will then have to register with the SNU Education Scheme; a copy of the enrolment form is included, The trainee healer will need to enrol on the H1 (Basic Healing) course. Once the future trainee has applied for the H1 course he/she will be given a unique student number which will be a record of all the educational courses undertaken by that student also a course book for the H1 Basic Healing and will be allocated a tutor, it is to this person that the trainee healer will send his/her answers to the coursework. Once enrolled with the Healing Committee the now trainee healer will be given a logbook and a unique HO number. The logbook is to be completed by the Healing Leader of the Spiritualist Church under which the trainee healer is studying. The trainee healer needs at least 100 sessions of healing, with a maximum of one healing session per week, this equates to a minimum of two years training. The healing leader would sign the trainee healers log book after every healing session. Also included in the training of a spiritualist healer is a booklet listing various subjects that the trainee spiritualist healer needs to be knowledgeable about. Each subject has a list of objectives, once the supervising healer is satisfied that the trainee healer is knowledgeable about a particular subject then he/she will sign a certain section of the book and also date his/her signature. Example Section labelled, Explain healing routine/procedure Agree patient’s position for healing chair or healing table couch (or maybe if at home or in hospital in bed). Always consider the patient’s mobility carefully in such matters Suggest/advise patient regarding restriction of the areas used for any placement of hands for their reassurance. Advise patient that you may not be necessarily be working just on or over the area they have mentioned as a problem area. Explain that healing may help to bring balance at physical, mental and spiritual levels. Agree method to be used to indicate that healing has finished and that the patient should begin to return to a normal state of consciousness. Identify if patient appears relaxed and ready to receive healing. Start music, unplug the telephone if necessary. There are currently approximately nineteen subjects listed from such items as the nature of healing to keeping confidential records. As well as the course work and practical healing sessions the trainee healer will need to attend a set of four healing seminars, which will be held in the area covered by the trainee healer’s district council. The four healing seminars cover a variety of subjects and all four seminars will need to attended and participated in. The trainee healer does not have to attend each seminar in numerical order i.e. seminar 1 then seminar 2 then seminar 3 etc but all four seminars must have been undertaken during the training period but not in any particular order. The H1 course book contains a set of questions and an explanation covering the different questions. The trainee healer initially completes the first part of section one and sends it of to their appointed tutor. The first question will be returned unmarked but with a written comment by their tutor, the tutor will ensure the trainee healer is answering the first question correctly. The tutor is not only there to mark questions but to offer help and support to the student. After the first question the student will answer each section one at a time and usually post the answers to the tutor although there are other ways of completing the coursework i.e. workshops, study groups etc. After 100 healing sessions and completing the H1 coursework (the supervising healer will sign the trainee healer’s logbook after each healing session) the trainee healer can apply to be upgraded to SNU approved healer status. At the back of the trainee healer’s logbook there is a section to be filled in by the trainee healer and the Church Committee. Also two references are required from patients treated by the trainee healer/applicant, together with a reference from the Church Committee and a letter from the SNU Education Committee stating that the trainee healer/applicant has completed the H1Course (there is also an assessment fee to be paid). The trainee healer/applicant will also undertake a practical assessment demonstrating spiritualist healing and afterwards being interviewed and questioned about spiritualism and spiritualist healing. After the practical assessment the panel will report back to the Healing Committee. All the paperwork, the references, the trainee healer/applicant’s logbook, Church Committee reference and all other paperwork is sent to the Healing Committee. The Healing Committee will then notify the trainee healer/applicant of its decision, either a failure or he/she will have passed and become an approved healer.

A Healer’s Prayer
Master may I walk a little way in life, along the path with you.
Share a little of the love when it comes into view
From this light may I work and earn enough, to bear a lamp for thee
May I carry this lamp each day in my life, a light for all to see?
And when I have earned my right to heal, in the name of God of love
Make me always remember that what I do is given from God above
May I work in his name and give my life, to serve as the Master taught
When my work is done may I find looking back, that I gave in my life what I sought?
May I light a candle bright enough to take to the realms of light above?
Let me work so that when I pass from this life, I have earned your blessings and love.
